Poetry Reading in Oswestry
Lcpl Alex Roissetter and Jan Hedger held a hugely successful poetry reading event at Booka Bookshop, 26-28 Church St, Oswestry, Shropshire, SY11 2SP on Saturday 24th April.
The event was hosted under the umbrella of the Forces Literary Organisation (FLOW for ALL) with the support of SilverWood Books.
Jan and Alex celebrated their books (A Soldier Poet and On Calico Wings) and read a selection of their work. Fellow poet Paul (Finn) Finnegan joined them, reading from Poems of the Poppies.
Jan and Alex had a good reason for choosing Oswestry for this event... they were taking poetry to David AR Lewis, a poet and Dunkirk veteran who was the honoured guest on Satiurday afternoon. Oswestry is also the birthplace of war poet Wilfred Owen, and some of his work was read by Nigel Wilkins.
