About Us

The SilverWood Team

At SilverWood we like to build friendly and long-standing relationships with our authors, and we're increasingly selective about the manuscripts we take on...

This means you can be reassured that if we've opted to work with you, your manuscript has been thoroughly reviewed and is, in our opinion, ready for publication.

The small size of our specialist team means we can get to know you and your project in detail, and offer support that's expressly tailored to your aims for your book. Throughout your association with us you'll retain consistent and reliable contact with your own publishing assistant, and the wider team up to the level of publishing director. If you'd like to have a chat about your book, do book a Discovery Call here.

Helen Hart

Publishing Director
Helen oversees all aspects of SilverWood’s publishing projects, teaming you with the publishing assistant who is the best fit for you, and ensuring you have a high quality book to make you proud.

Committed to SilverWood’s standards of excellence, Helen is a long-standing Partner Member of The Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi) and a corporate subscriber to the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). She has taken CIEP courses in proofreading and copy-editing so you can be confident she’ll cross your 't’s, dot your 'i’s, and more besides.

She’s been a published author since 1999 (Scholastic, Virgin Books, Oxford University Press and HarperCollins) so she understands the varied life of a writer and cares about what matters to you on a creative level.

Lucy Reynolds

Book Designer
Lucy comes from a rich background of design and illustration with over 15 years experience of creating beautiful visual art for the publishing and film world. Lucy has a strong passion for art, film and books and this reflects in her work and how your book will fit into the current market. She graduated from Southampton Solent University in 2005 with an illustration degree and she has worked in the design industry ever since, producing work for some of the biggest brands in entertainment around the world.

Anna Brownbridge

Publishing Assistant
Anna has a lifelong passion for literature and books. In her role as Publishing Assistant, Anna ensures your book is produced to the high standards you expect when you’re working with us. She appreciates the time and care you put into your writing, so one of her weekly highlights is assessing newly-submitted manuscripts and considering what practical feedback she can give you. She is fascinated by the editing process and, throughout her life, has regularly attended author events and book festivals. Anna joined the team following her graduation from the University of Leeds with a BA (Hons) English Literature and German.

Claire Ellis

Publishing Assistant
Claire has always had an interest in writing and literature, and when growing up she was never too far away from a novel. As Publishing Assistant, Claire will be working closely with you throughout your publishing journey. She understands how much time and work go into writing a book, and therefore is passionate about bringing each unique project forward and making it the best it can be. Claire graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Arts, during which she also studied an elective course in Creative Writing.

Debra Penrice

Head of Marketing
Debra is here to build our author support communities and ensure you’re successful in promoting your book once it’s published.  She’s enthusiastic about helping people realise their dream of writing a book and marketing it directly to the relevant audience. She has years of experience writing blogs, managing marketing content, communications campaigns and PR across several industries, including construction, software and financial services. As a professional copywriter, she runs The Case Study Practice, helping businesses to interview their customers and writing their customer success stories. Storytelling has always been a key theme for her because she loved books as a child.

Sue Gunton

Sue supports Helen and the team as SilverWood's bookkeeper. With her manual and computerised bookkeeping diplomas, she has 14 years experience of bookkeeping and financial administration within small to medium sized businesses. At SilverWood, Sue takes meticulous care of the bookkeeping and accounting side that goes along with books before and after publication.
