The Writers Say...

It's difficult for any writer to judge whether their words make compelling reading. Being shortlisted in this competition gives me a new confidence in my ability to entertain readers. Now I'm on tenterhooks awaiting the final judging!
Sally Jenkins

I was thrilled to be shortlisted... It is truly an honor. I began writing my book, Inventing Madness, about a year ago, just after I had read an article about Thomas Edison. [It] is a fictional account of Thomas Edison's rise to fame and fortune through the use of murder and magic.
Joyce Schwartz

I guess I didn't have a lot of confidence in myself or my writing, but even being shortlisted for this competition has made me want to write more.
Phoebe Powell-Moore

I'm thrilled and honoured to have White Magic included in the shortlist for Open Day Competition. White Magic grew from my obsession with the television series 'Charmed'. Fighting evil with white magic - always my kind of thing!
Julie Affleck

I can't express adequately how excited I am that my book has been shortlisted for this competition. The Angels of Islington was initially written 17 years ago, brought back to life a few years ago. My next one won't take so long!
Sarah Channing
