Notice of Change to POD Cloth Hardback Covers

Published: 19 Sep 2019  - updated: 15 Dec 2020

Our print on demand (POD) printer has let us know that on 22 October 2019 they will make a change to the appearance of POD hardbacks. The change is being made to allow the printer to maintain speed of POD production, and also to ensure consistency so there is less margin for error with spine text.

This does not affect the dustjacket, only the cloth hardcasing beneath. Previously POD hardbacks had a blue or grey cloth cover and gold foil spine stamping. This will change to a comparable blue or grey digital cloth image with linen textured lamination. Spine text that was previously foil stamped will be digitally printed using a non-metallic comparable gold-colored ink.

There is no action needed on the part of authors, and the change will happen automatically for any POD hardbacks printed on and after 22 October.

However, any author wishing to order and pay for a stock of the old style cloth POD hardbacks are advised to do so before Monday 7 October 2019.

Please place a hardback book order in your usual way or email Viki (
