Keep Your Book On Track

During the publishing process, there are decisions to be made and a lot of book production work to be done. Some self-publishing authors find themselves struggling to get to the finish line. Inexplicable delays creep in. Writers can prevaricate and procrastinate in creative ways...such as using the publishing process as a time to do more edits to the text, or making numerous last-minute changes to tiny details of the cover design.

To anticipate this, and to help you be ready to overcome these hurdles yourself, here’s our handy guide to sailing through the key publishing and production steps. Read the full article on our Learning Zone here.

Unfortunately due to the escalation of COVID-19 coronavirus in Europe, the decision was made by the organisers to cancel London Book Fair 2020. SilverWood will therefore not be in London next week. However, we’ll be available on Facebook between 2.30-4.30pm GMT on 10-12 March to answer your questions and say hello. Post on our page or send us a direct message, and we’d love to chat!

Caroline Mitchell (middle, image above) launched her book Chains of Gold in Waterstones Clifton on 1 February. There were drinks and homemade nibbles and Caroline gave a short talk about her book. Waterstones hosted the event and supplied the books for sale. Congratulations on a successful event.

Debbie Brookes, author of mermaid tale, The Secret Wave, held a book signing at Books on the Hill bookshop in Clevedon on 1 February. Congratulations on making a splash with your launch, Debbie!

Elly Redding (right) has published her sweet second-chance romance In Too Deep. Her books are on sale at the Eagle Bookshop, and she held a lovely launch there on 9 Feb, despite Storm Ciara. She’s also had a successful blog tour with Rachel’s Random Resources, between 8-14 February. Here are some snippets of the great feedback she’s had:

"I enjoyed it so much I went and purchased her debut book! They were a sweet couple who truly loved each other and I was rooting for them to find a way to be together again." Rosie is Reading blog.

"For me, it was not what I expected, but even better! Not a simple 'one look at each other and they fall back in love and live happily ever after' but a story about forgiveness, trust, putting the past behind you and allow yourself to love another person!" Tizi’s Book Review.

We are really pleased to hear that Death Makes No Distinction by Lucienne Boyce, was made a B.R.A.G. Medallion honoree. The book was published in September and you can read more here.

Also it’s great to see that Charlie Brown has got coverage in Writing Magazine, in Subscriber Spotlight. Keep it up Charlie!

Eve Bonham was interviewed on Forest FM Radio about her novel Dear Magpies. More coverage via her publicist, Elly Donovan.

Veronica del Valle had a blog tour from 23-29 Feb, organised through Rachel’s Random Resources. Keep up to date with her middle grade novel, The Word-Keeper on Instagram. "Yes, I know I am not a middle grade, but as an adult I truly love fairytale stories and this one was so magical and even poetical that I adore it. I can assure you even if you don't have children you will enjoy the lovely messages hidden in the book and the great story." - Fany Goes English Review.
