When Sophie graduated from university and began her search for a stable job, she soon realised it wasn't going to be an easy task. In fact, looking for a non-specific ‘perfect’ role took the best part of a decade before and taught her many lessons about being an adult and dealing with new jobs, from low-paid, zero-hour contracts and uninspiring office temp work to career jobs oozing sparkling potential.

This book releases the frustration, disappointment and joy experienced by anyone who finds themselves a new or long-term citizen of the job-hunting world. It does this through sharing personal mistakes – with one or two triumphs along the way – in a heartening and humorous account of a twenty-something job blunderer.

Sophie Bloodworth has been published locally in etc Magazine and The Chichester Observer, as well as in some online music reviews. She dabbled with freelancing whist working on her PTC Magazine Journalism qualification and even though she hasn’t pursued this as a career, she’s worked for a number of years for local government producing and editing online content.

Sophie’s always enjoyed creative writing and has written a couple of screenplays: a feature film about a vampire entering the ancient greek underworld (A Tale of Two Souls) she wrote for her BA (Hons) Media Studies dissertation, and also a short film script (Getting By) for ‘An Introduction to Screenwriting’ course she completed at Lighthouse, an arts and culture agency in Brighton.
