A Reader's Report

is a cost-effective way of receiving some reassurance about your work and its readiness for publication, or a few pointers on things you might do to make improvements.

Send us a one-page synopsis and the first 50 double-spaced pages (approximately 15,000 words, or three chapters) of your manuscript. One of our experienced readers will assess the work, looking at areas such as:

  • writing style and pace
  • readiness for publication
  • grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • commercial appeal

You will then receive a written report on your manuscript, recommendations on what to do next, and a reading list.

If your book is a children's book, then please send the complete manuscript along with 3-4 illustrations.

If your book is non-fiction, then the report will focus on structure, suitability of chapter length, how well your book addresses areas of concern for your target readers, likely commercial appeal, and how well your title communicates the essence of the book.

VAT at the standard rate will be added during the checkout process if you are an EU or UK taxpayer.

What do I get?

  • A reader's report of at least two A4 pages.

  • An overview of the strengths of your work.

  • A summary of areas where improvements could be made.

  • A bullet point list of suggestions and recommendations; ideal if you're planning to self-publish or approach literary agents and mainstream publishers.

Click the red basket icon at the top of the page to purchase this service.

When checkout is complete, you will receive an automatic email confirming receipt of your order, and we will be in touch to request your manuscript (if you haven't already sent it).

“If you’re thinking of self-publishing, I hope you don't go at it alone. With a team like SilverWood behind you, you have the support you need to publish the best work you believe in.”
