I lived and was schooled in Hull, qualifying as a physical educationalist and later studying Art to MA level. My teaching career started in London, and went via Hull to Penzance in Cornwall, where I led an Arts faculty, and concluded as Head of Art/Technology. I was also Art Advisor to Cornwall County Council.
I have travelled extensively; cycling around Europe, (5000+ miles in three months), worked on a Kibbutz in Israel, and undertook the 'hippie trail’ overland to Nepal, as well as embarking on numerous South East Asian journeys.
I was previously married, fathering two children. After two years separation, I bought a farm jointly with my subsequent partner, and over fours years, created habitats for wildlife. I then moved to Bath, alternating between there and Andalucia, Spain. This was followed by a period of serial monogamy and polyamory, as I explored tantra.
I bought a van, and lived in it on Dartmoor in Devon, for a year, painting in a barn studio. Following a serious septicaemia infection which hospitalised me, I moved into Bowden House Community, Totnes. During the two years there, I learnt and practised deep tissue, sensual and tantric massage.
Since arriving in Bristol four years ago, I have written daily. I am inspired by Buddhist, Zen and Taoist philosophy and practice. I continue to paint and have exhibited for over 25 years, and my work is in private collections throughout the UK, California, Japan and Denmark. Currently I paint in a studio in central Bristol and follow my other passions: playing guitar, dancing to trance music, and table tennis!
